DNS - Global Name Zones Print E-mail

 

Global Name Zones = Replacement for WINS, supports IPv4 and IPv6.

 

dnscmd /config /enableglobalnamesupport 1

Create primary forward lookup zone, stored in active directory specifically named "GlobalNames"

Create CNAME records for hosts you want single name resolution support.

OR

dnscmd dnsserver1.domain.local /recordadd globalnames server3 cname server3.domain.local
